action

Bulma, Kuririn, Oolong and Gohan are camping in the forest when a space probe ignites the forest by landing one night. Kuririn and Gohan successfully fight the fire and save the forest animals. The sacred dragon Shenlong fulfills her wish to restore the forest to its original state. Gohan wins a little Hya dragon as a friend through the rescue .

The space capsule was sent to Earth by space pirates who are on their way there to plant the Tree of Power . They succeed and the rapidly growing tree begins to withdraw all minerals from the earth with its roots, and thereby threatens to destroy all life on the planet.

Son-Goku, Kuririn, Tenshinhan, Chao-Zu and Yamcha want to destroy the tree and save the earth from destruction. Their use is unsuccessful and they meet the space pirates who defeat their friends. Gohan intervenes in the fight and thus arouses the interest of the leader, Tales, who looks so confusingly similar to Goku. The Saiyan Tales is looking for Goku, whom he knows as Kakarott, and wants Gohan to join the space pirates. He refuses and Tales uses a ball of light to force him to transform into a wer-monkey (oozaru). When trying to protect Gohan, the latter attacks him and tries to kill Son Goku. When the little hya dragon appears and the wer-monkey Gohan calms down and releases his father, Tales kills the dragon. Gohan then attacks Tales, who in turn wants to kill Gohan as well. Goku prevents this by cutting off Gohan's monkey's tail with an energy discus and transforming it back into a little boy. The tree of power continues to drain the earth's energy and its fruits begin to ripen. Goku now faces five space pirates, all of whom he defeats.

In the final fight, Son-Goku is defeated by Tales, who had previously eaten a fruit and thereby gained strength. The earth is about to fall and Son-Goku takes all the energy out of the ripe fruits of the tree with the last of his strength. He uses it to form a Genkidama and uses this fighting technique to kill Tales and destroy the tree of power.
