action

41 years ago, the Saiyan homeworld, Planet Vegeta, was ruled by King Cold, who then passed command to his son Freezer. The Saiyajin kingdom now has to serve Freezer and becomes part of the Freezer army. King Vegeta, the leader of the Saiyans, believes that his son Prince Vegeta (Vegeta the Fourth) is a child prodigy destined to free their people. He learns of Broly, a Saiyan baby who was born with an unusual level of performance that surpasses that of his son, and for this reason banishes Broly to the distant planet Vampa.

Broly's father Paragus follows his son, but now they are both stranded on Vampa after their ships were damaged. Paragus vows to turn Broly into a mighty warrior who is supposed to take revenge on King Vegeta.

Five years later, a lower-class Saiyan warrior named Bardock becomes suspicious of Freezer as he calls all Saiyans back to Planet Vegeta at once. All Saiiyajins return to their home planet except for Prince Vegeta's away team, as he does not want to abort his mission.

Immediately after Bardock lands on his planet, he seeks out his wife to get together with his wife Gine, Bardock sends their son Kakarot or Son Goku to earth. His suspicions are confirmed when Freezer, upon learning from a legend that a Super Saiyan will one day defeat him, destroys the planet Vegeta.

Almost all of the Saiyan race will be wiped out by the planet's explosion. Only those who were not on the planet could survive the genocide. Prince Vegeta, who is about to conquer a strange planet, learns shortly after of the downfall of the home planet Vegeta. However, he and his away team (consisting of Nappa, Raditz and two other unknown Saiyajins) learn that the cause of the destruction of the planet is said to have been a meteorite. The only survivors are Vegeta's away team (5 Saiyajins in total), Son Goku on Earth, and Broly together with Paragus on the planet Vampa.

Today Son Goku and Vegeta train on an island with Bulma, Beerus and Whis. Bulma is contacted by Trunks, who informs her that six of the Dragon Balls (which Bulma collected to look five years younger) were stolen by Freezer's soldiers. Son Goku, Vegeta, Bulma and Whis travel to the Arctic to find the seventh Dragon Ball before Freezer (who plans to grow 2 inches taller) can find it. In the meantime, Broly and Paragus are rescued by Vampa by Cheelai and Lemo, two low-ranking soldiers in Freezer's army who are looking for new recruits. They are taken to Freezer, who recruits them to help him defeat Goku and Vegeta. Cheelai steals the remote control from Paragus, which suppresses Broly's power and destroys her.

The two groups meet in the Arctic, where Paragus orders Broly to attack Vegeta. Broly fights Vegeta and then Son Goku. Broly gets stronger and stronger as the fight progresses and catches up with her Super Saiyan god forms. Freezer murders Paragus, and Broly’s anger over his father’s death leads him to transform into a Super Saiyan. He overwhelms Son Goku and Vegeta with his new strength, so they get him to attack Freezer and then teleport to Piccolo. Son Goku and Piccolo teach Vegeta how to use the fusion technique. After two unsuccessful attempts, Son Goku and Vegeta successfully merge to Gogeta and teleport back to the battlefield. Gogeta defeats Broly and is about to wipe him out with a powerful wave of energy, but Cheelai and Lemo, who have become friends with Broly, call on the dragon Shenlong with the dragon balls and use their wish to bring Broly back to Vampa.

Freezer withdraws and promises to return another time. Later, Son Goku meets up with Broly, Cheelai and Lemo on Vampa. He wants them to be friends and provides them with various survival supplies from the Capsule Corp. to disposal. Before Son Goku teleports himself back to Earth, he explains his desire to compete with Broly again one day and he seems to accept his Saiyanj inheritance.
