Ernst Heinrich Eduard von Tuchsen (born August 21, 1775 in Potsdam , † June 26, 1839 in Bamberg ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

origin

He was the son of the later Prussian major Friedrich Wilhelm von Tuchsen (1739-1791) and his wife Charlotte Friederike, née Wollweber. His father took part in the Battle of Leuthen during the Seven Years' War and was awarded the Pour le Mérite order in December 1786 .

Military career

Due to the early death of his mother, Tuchsen was raised in the military orphanage from 1785 . On May 1, 1791, he joined the Prussian Army's riding artillery as a bombardier . Tuchsen took part in the battles near Pirmasens and Weißenburg in 1793/1795 during the First Coalition War against revolutionary France . In mid-October 1797 he was promoted to second lieutenant . As such, Tuchsen fought again against France in 1806 in the Fourth Coalition War . He took part in the battle of Jena and the battle near Halle and was captured by the French on October 28, 1806 through the capitulation near Prenzlau .

Tuchsen was soon released and remained in active military service. Since August 22, 1808 he acted as adjutant to the General Inspector of Artillery, Prince August of Prussia . He rose to Staff Captain on, was born on March 19, 1812 Captain and simultaneously as a company commander in the Silesian Artillery Brigade added. Tuchsen married Karoline Henriette Maximilliane von Birckhahn (1776–1846) in Neustadt on January 23, 1815 . She was the daughter of the later Prussian major general Jakob Albrecht von Birkhahn (1733–1801). The couple's grave is located in the Melaten cemetery in Cologne . It was later converted into a sponsorship grave.

Others

The writer Friedrich Wilhelm Hackländer also served as a young man in the 7th Artillery Brigade. He put his colonel as Der Alte or Colonel v.
