Ed Shearmur
Edward "Ed" Shearmur (born February 28, 1966 in London , England ) is a British composer of numerous film scores .
Life
Ed Shearmur sang in the Westminster Cathedral choir as a seven-year-old and received his first education at Eton College . He then studied at the Royal College of Music and with the help of a scholarship at Pembroke College of University of Cambridge .
After moving to Los Angeles , he was music director and keyboardist for Jimmy Page and Robert Plant . He arranged for Eric Clapton , Annie Lennox , Bryan Adams , Pink Floyd , Marianne Faithfull and Echo & the Bunnymen , among others .
In 1988 he began his first work for the film with Michael Kamen as an orchestrator, among other things for The Adventures of Baron von Münchhausen , James Bond 007: License to Kill , Die Hard , Lethal Weapon and Don Juan de Marco . Shearmur wrote his first composition for a complete soundtrack in 1993 for Der Zementgarten , which won the Silver Bear for Best Director ( Andrew Birkin ) at the Berlinale . However, he only gained greater fame in 1997 with Wings of the Dove .
He was married to film producer Allison Shearmur until her death in 2018 .
