history

In 1621, the Counts of Lynar , who from that time had the manorial lordship over the rule of Lübbenau , bought the strategically important property in order to build a forester's house there. At the point where the Eiche settlement is located, the borders of Cottbus, Lübbenau, Straupitz and Zauche met at that time. The earliest evidence of the Gasthaus Eiche goes back to 1756. The court initially belonged to the Electorate of Saxony , which was elevated to the Kingdom of Saxony in 1806 . Around this time the inn came into the possession of the Roschke family. After the decision to partition the Kingdom of Saxony at the Congress of Vienna in 1815, the Gasthof Eiche became part of the Kingdom of Prussia . During the subsequent territorial reform, the municipality of Leipe with oak was assigned to the Calau district in the province of Brandenburg .

According to the topographical-statistical overview of the administrative district of Frankfurt adO from 1844, Eiche in Spreewalde had five residents as a tavern and colony house. For church services, the residents were parish in the parish of the Sankt Nikolai Church in Lübbenau. In 1867 the building was a count's forester's house. The inn was still run and lived in by the Roschke family. In 1859, Theodor Fontane stayed in the forester's house Eiche during his hikes through the Mark Brandenburg region and mentions this in the transcript. In 1867 the settlement had 16 inhabitants. From 1904, the Oak Inn was taken over by Herbert Roschke and expanded after more people came to the inn due to the tourism in the Spreewald that began at that time.

After the Second World War , the settlement remained in the Calau district until July 1, 1950, when it was reclassified as part of the Leipe community in the Lübben district . During the GDR district reform on July 25, 1952, Leipe came with Eiche, the Pohlenzschänke and Konzaks Horst to the Calau district in the Cottbus district . During the GDR era, paddler meetings were held regularly at Gasthof Eiche. The forester's house was used as a hostel at times and was inhabited until 1981. After reunification , oak initially belonged to the Calau district in the state of Brandenburg. In 1991 the inn was demolished and rebuilt within two years; In 1994 the company went bankrupt . The Gasthaus Eiche was then taken over by the Ringhotelgruppe . Since December 6, 1993, Eiche belonged to the Oberspreewald-Lausitz district , which was created through the merger of the Calau and Senftenberg districts.

On October 26, 2003, the municipality of Leipe was incorporated into the city of Lübbenau / Spreewald as part of a municipal reform. Since 2017 the Gasthof Eiche no longer belongs to the Ringhotel Group.
