El Gouna International 2017

The El Gouna International 2017 took place from 7 to 14 April 2017 in El Gouna , Egypt instead. The men's squash tournament was part of the PSA World Tour 2016/17 and belonged to the PSA World Series rating category . At the same time, the women's world championship for 2016 took place on site.

Last year's winner was Mohamed Elshorbagy , who lost to his brother Marwan in three sets in the quarterfinals . The winner was Grégory Gaultier , who despite winning the title on May 1, lost the lead in the world rankings to his final opponent Karim Abdel Gawad .

The field of participants in the men's competition consisted of 32 players, eight of which were reserved for qualifiers. The eight best players were seeded. Per Wildcard received Marwan Tarek a spot in the main draw.

Prize money and world ranking points

At the tournament, the following prize money and world ranking points were paid out or credited for reaching the respective round. Players who entered the main field from qualification received the specified qualification points in addition to those for reaching the respective round. Otherwise the amounts are not to be understood as cumulative. The total prize money for the men was 150,000 US dollars.
