El Gouna International 2018

The El Gouna International 2018 took place from 20 to 27 April 2018 in El Gouna , Egypt instead. The men's squash tournament was part of the PSA World Tour 2017/18 and belonged to the PSA World Series category . The women's tournament was part of the women's PSA World Tour 2017/18 and also belonged to the PSA World Series category .

Last year's winner for men was Grégory Gaultier , there was no competition for women in 2017. Gaultier was eliminated in the semifinals against Ali Farag , who met Marwan Elshorbagy in the final . Elshorbagy prevailed there with 11: 8, 11: 5 and 11: 4 and thereby won his first tournament in the World Series. In the women's race, Raneem El Weleily won the final against Nour El Sherbini with 5:11, 11: 8, 11: 3 and 14:12.

The fields of participants in the men's and women's competitions each consisted of 32 players, eight of which were starting places for qualifiers. The eight best players were seeded for the men and the 16 best women for the women. Per Wildcard received Rowan Elaraby and Mostafa Asal a starting place in the respective main field.

Prize money and world ranking points

At the tournament, the following prize money and world ranking points were paid out or credited for reaching the respective round. Players who entered the main field from qualification received the specified qualification points in addition to those for reaching the respective round. Otherwise the amounts are not to be understood as cumulative. The total prize money was $ 165,000 each.
