history

The place was first mentioned in 1398 as "Espech" in the land register of the Plassenberg rule. The original field name denotes an area overgrown with aspen (aspen + appended collective suffix ech ). At that time, the place was under the Burgraviate of Nuremberg . In 1495 5 households were recorded for "Espach", which were subordinate to the Margraviate of Brandenburg-Kulmbach , the legal successors of the Nuremberg burgraves.

At the end of the 18th century there were 5 properties in Esbach. The high court was exercised by the Bavarian Bailiwick of Kulmbach . The Kulmbach caste office held the village and community rulership as well as the land rulership over the 5 Höflein .

From 1797 to 1808 the place was subordinate to the justice and chamber office Kulmbach . With the community edict, Esbach was assigned to the Kirchleus tax district formed in 1811 and the Kirchleus rural community formed in 1812 . As a result of the second community edict (1818), the place was re-incorporated into the newly formed rural community of Lösau . On January 1, 1976, Esbach was incorporated into Kulmbach as part of the regional reform in Bavaria .
