The television tower Mont Pèlerin is a 122 meter high television tower on Mont Pèlerin in the municipality of Chardonne , north of Vevey . It is the only television tower in Switzerland that is also a viewing tower , the viewing platform of which is accessible via an elevator.

features

The observation platform of the tower, which was built between 1971 and 1974, is accessible via a panoramic elevator and is located at a height of 64.3 meters on the roof of the concrete structure of the tower. In contrast to most other television towers, this viewing platform was not there from the start, but was only installed in 1995 and made accessible to the public. The 58.31 meter high steel antenna mast with a base diameter of 2 meters and a weight of 97 tons, to which the transmitting antennas are attached, also stands on this. The total height of the structure is 122.6 meters.

The construction of the Mont Pèlerin television tower, the foundations of which are 1075 meters above sea level, weighs 6,000 tons and consists of 7,500 m³ of concrete. The surface of the building, which is striking due to its striking architecture with its asymmetrical antenna platforms, is 3215 m².

The Mont Pèlerin television tower is not the first transmission tower on Mont Pèlerin. As early as 1955, a radio relay system was set up in a wooden barracks and in 1963 a steel mast for a television station was erected.
