The First Division 1972/73 was the 34th season of the top Cypriot division in men's football . It began on October 7, 1972 and ended on April 25, 1973.

Master became APOEL Nicosia .

The league was increased to 14 teams. They played against each other twice on a total of 26 match days, divided into a first round and a second half. The master qualified for the European Cup of national champions and the cup winner or finalist for the European Cup of cup winners . The runner-up qualified for the UEFA Cup . The bottom of the table was relegated.

From 1966/67 to 1972/73 the champions of Cyprus were automatically eligible for promotion to the first Greek league . It was the time when the Greek-Turkish conflict over the island was at its height and Greece's ties to the Mediterranean island were to be documented in this way.
