Normal or de jure version of a flag? - flag of South Dakota

The flag of the US state of South Dakota was adopted in 1963.

The flag of South Dakota was introduced on the basis of earlier designs which originally carried the motto "The Sunshine State". In 1992, the motto was changed to "The Mount Rushmore State" (The Mount Rushmore State).

The seal itself shows a landscape with symbols for industry, agriculture and transport. At the top of the seal is a banner with the motto of the state:

" Under God the people rule. "(People rule under God)

In a 2001 Internet poll of the North American Vexillological Association , the North American flag scouting association, this flag was voted fifth from the bottom of the ten worst flags of the US states and the Canadian provinces.
