The flag of the US state of Kansas was officially adopted in 1927.

“The Kansas flag consists of a dark blue field with the state seal in the center. A sunflower on a bar of twisted gold lies above the seal, and below the seal is the word 'Kansas'. "

The flag of Kansas consists of a dark blue field with the seal of Kansas in the center. A sunflower sits above it on a gold-colored twisted ribbon. At the top of the seal is the state's Latin motto: Ad Astra per Aspera (“On rough paths to the stars”).

history

The flag was designed in 1925. Officially adopted, it was modified by Kansas Legislation in 1927 and 1961, adding the word "Kansas" in gold block letters under the seal.

Trivia

In a 2001 Internet vote by the North American Vexillological Association ( the North American Flagship Association ), this flag was voted fourth from bottom of the ten worst flags of the US states and Canadian provinces.
