The three blue stars under the ARKANSAS logo stand for the powers to which Arkansas belonged or belonged: Spain, France and the USA (from 1803). The top star symbolizes the Confederate States of America , which Arkansas joined on May 6, 1861. The flag salute is: I salute the Arkansas Flag with its diamond and stars. We pledge our loyalty to thee . ( I greet the Arkansas flag with its diamond and stars. We pledge our loyalty to it. )
