Reports

background

For the Formula 3 Masters 2012, 18 drivers from the German Formula 3 Cup , the European Formula 3 Championship and the British Formula 3 Championship competed . In addition, one driver each from the Formula Renault BARC and the GP3 series contested the race.

Three pilots started with Volkswagen , 15 pilots with Mercedes-Benz - and two pilots with Honda engines.

Qualifying

The first qualifying took place on a wet track. Here Daniel Juncadella was the fastest ahead of Carlos Sainz jr. and Alex Lynn .

The second qualifying section was driven under better weather conditions and all drivers improved their times significantly. Here, too, Juncadella was the fastest and secured pole position from Sainz and Raffaele Marciello .

run

Juncadella started well from pole position and kept the lead. Starting from second position, Sainz lost two places to Marciello and Hannes van Asseldonk at the start and was fourth after the first lap.

The two leaders quickly moved away from the field and drove their positions to the finish without any pressure. Van Asseldonk, on the other hand, had to defend himself against Sainz for the entire race. He withstood the pressure and took the final podium, followed by Sainz, Pascal Wehrlein and William Buller .
