Franciszkowo [ frant͡ɕiʂˈkɔvɔ ] ( German  Franziskowen , 1938–1945 Freihausen ) is a small town in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship , which belongs to the rural community of Wydminy (Widminnen) in the Giżycki powiat ( Lötzen district ).

Geographical location

The hamlet ( Polish osada ) Franciszkowo is located in the eastern center of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship , 23 kilometers southeast of the district town of Giżycko (Lötzen) .

history

The small place Franziskowen was originally a Vorwerk in the Neuhoff manor district ( Zelki in Polish ). In 1818 it was a noble estate with 19 souls. With the mother church, the village was in the newly built 1,874 District incorporated Neuhoff, who until 1945 Circle Lötzen in Administrative district Gumbinnen the Prussian province of East Prussia belonged. Franziskowen was also assigned to the Neuhoff registry office from 1874 . In 1905 it had 56 inhabitants.

On October 17, 1928, the Vorwerk Franziskowen was reclassified from the Neuhoff manor into the rural community Adlig Wolla ( Polish Pańska Wola ). In 1938 it was renamed Freihausen .

As a result of the war, the place came to Poland in 1945 along with all of southern East Prussia and has since borne the Polish form of name Franciszkowo . Today he is in the mayor's office ( Polish sołectwo ) Pańska Wola (Noble wolla) involved and thus a village in the network of rural community Wydminy (Widminnen) in giżycko county (district Giżycko ) until 1998, the province Suwalki since the Warmia and Mazury belong .

Franciszkowo can be reached from the voivodship road DW 656 via Hejbuty ( German  Heybutten ) on a land route in the direction of Biała Giżycka (Adlig Bialla , 1938–1945 Bleichenau) . Another overland route leads from Pańska Wola (Adlig Wolla , 1938–1945 Freihausen) to the village. There is no rail link.
