Gawliki Wielkie ( German Groß Gablick ) is a village in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and belongs to the rural community of Wydminy (Widminnen) in the Giżycki powiat ( Lötzen district ).
Geographical location
Gawliki Wielkie is located on the west bank of the Gablick Lake ( Jezioro Gawlik in Polish ) and on the Gablick River (Gawlik) in the eastern center of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship . It is 21 kilometers to the west to the district town of Giżycko (Lötzen) .
history
The village called Gablick before 1777 , Groß Gablick before 1818 and Groß Gablick until 1945 became an official village on March 29, 1874 and gave its name to an administrative district . It existed until 1945 and was part of the circle Lötzen in Administrative district Gumbinnen (1905-1945 Administrative district Allenstein ) in the Prussian province of East Prussia . During the same period, Groß Gablick was also assigned to the Widminnen registry office ( Wydminy in Polish ).
In 1910, 713 inhabitants were registered in Groß Gablick. Their number rose to 743 by 1933 and totaled 749 in 1939.
Due to the provisions of the Versailles Treaty , the population in the Allenstein voting area , to which Groß Gablick belonged, voted on July 11, 1920 whether it would continue to belong to East Prussia (and thus Germany) or join Poland. In Groß Gablick, 560 residents voted to remain with East Prussia, Poland did not.
As a result of the war, the village came to Poland in 1945 with all of southern East Prussia and was given the Polish form of the name Gawliki Wielkie . Today it is the seat of a Schulzenamt (Polish sołectwo) and a village in the community of Wydminy (Widminnen) in the powiat Giżycki ( Lötzen district ), until 1998 of the Suwałki Voivodeship , since then it belongs to the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship .
Groß Gablick district (1874–1945)
The 1874 built District United Gablick included at its inception three rural communities and a Gutsbezirk , at the end of only three municipalities:
