Frank Witter (actor)

Frank Witter (born January 11, 1970 in Vacha ) is a German actor .

Life

Frank Witter grew up in Meiningen as the son of a baker. In 1988 he completed an apprenticeship as a pastry chef. When his parents fled the GDR in autumn 1988 , he was left alone. He submitted an exit application, which was approved the second time on November 8, 1989.

After graduating from high school in Düsseldorf, he won a presenter competition initiated by VOX and TV Spielfilm in 1993 . As a prize he received an internship in the editorial team of liebe sünde at VOX. He then studied at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin in the same year as Maria Simon and Steffen Groth .

From 1997 to 2000 he was active in the ensemble of the State Theater of Saxony-Anhalt , where in 2000 he received the “Mansfeld-Oskar” audience award. Engagements at the Oldenburg State Theater and the Bremen Theater followed . He also played in commercials in Germany and Switzerland.

Frank Witter played in over 65 German and international cinema and television productions as well as a dozen short films. He worked with directors such as the Wachowskis , Sönke Wortmann , Detlev Buck , Pepe Danquart , Matti Geschonneck and Brian De Palma . He also played alongside Hape Kerkeling , Mario Adorf , Dominic Monaghan , Daniel Brühl , Dany Boon , Diane Kruger , David Wenham , Noomi Rapace , and John Goodman . He played the soldier Jörg in the movie Merry Christmas .

In 2002 he received the Best Actor Award for the leading role in Der Warter at the 14th Dresden Film Festival .

Wittwer has been studying at the Technical University of Berlin since 2007 . In 2014 he graduated with a Master of Science in Aeronautics and Astronautics. He works as a teacher for mathematics, physics and performing games at a private school in Berlin.

Frank Witter is married and has two daughters.
