Franz Friedrich von Puttkamer (born February 4, 1735 in Ristow , † August 4, 1823 in Stettin ) was a Prussian major general and knight of the order Pour le Mérite .

Life

Franz Friedrich was a member of the Puttkamer noble family from Pomerania . He was a son of the heir to Ristow and Rötzenhagen , Erdmann Joachim von Puttkamer († 1763) and Susanne Luise alias Barbara Erdmuth von Kameke . He himself remained unmarried and left no children.

Career

Puttkamer began his career in the Prussian Army in 1754 as a private corporal in Infantry Regiment No. 7 . With this he took part in the Seven Years' War , in particular the battles near Lobositz , Kolin , Breslau , Leuthen , Zorndorf , Kay , Kunersdorf , Torgau , the sieges of Prague and Dresden, as well as the battles near Strehlen and Wittenberg. He was wounded at Kunersdorf and Torgau. During the war he was promoted on May 16, 1757 to Ensign , on April 7, 1758 to second lieutenant and on November 26, 1760 to first lieutenant . After the war, Puttkamer was promoted to staff captain on November 4, 1768, and to real captain and company commander on February 12, 1772 . After that he was in the field in the War of the Bavarian Succession . He climbed on November 26, 1786 to Major on, was born on July 15, 1789 battalion commander of his regiment, and was in 1790 with this to Silesia in March set. On January 12, 1794, he was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel and was posted on June 5, 1795 commander of the Infantry Regiment. 7. He has on 28 May 1798 in the Revue in Stargard as a colonel in the regiment "Owstien" the Order Pour le Mérite received. He ceded his feudal claim to the Vietzke and Marsow A estates to his cousin Franz Georg Ludwig von Puttkamer as early as 1770.
