Franz Paul of Wallis
Franz Anton Paul Count Wallis von Karighmain ( January 1678 , † October 18, 1737 ) was an imperial court war councilor , general field witness and commanding general as well as governor of Transylvania . He came from the family of the Austrian Counts of Wallis .
Life
Franz Anton Paul von Wallis was the son of Field Marshal Georg Olivier von Wallis the Elder. Ä. and Magdalena (1657–1712), née Countess von Attems . The father died in 1689 during the siege of Mainz , leaving behind the underage Franz Paul and his brother Georg Olivier (1673-1744).
Franz Paul was the owner of the Valais regiment of the same name. From October 21, 1716 to October 1, 1729 he was in command of the Temesvar fortress . After the Venetian-Austrian Turkish War and the conquest of the Banat by Habsburg Austria in 1716, the city was expanded into a fortress and garrison town. In 1719 he had Freidorf (now the seventh district of Timișoara ) founded. For a time he was Deputy Governor of the Temescher Banat Claudius Florimund Mercy . From 1727 to 1734 he was governor of Luxembourg, after which Fort Wallis was named. From 1734 he was governor of Transylvania with his seat in Sibiu . In 1735 he became a field marshal lieutenant and in 1736 court war councilor.
Wallis was married to Cäcilia von Liechtenstein and died around 1737 without any biological descendants.
Possessions
After the death of his mother, Franz Paul von Wallis inherited the rule of Plomnitz in the County of Glatz . Until the end of his life he also owned the Kieslingswalde , Glasegrund , Weißbrod , Altwaltersdorf , Kaiserswalde and Friedrichswalde in Bohemia, which bordered on Kaiserswalde, through acquisitions .
Heir was his brother Georg Olivier von Wallis, who already owned the County of Glatzer lordships Wallisfurth , Seitenberg , Kunzendorf and others.
