After the campaign, Pulz was given command of an infantry brigade in Prague and remained there until June 22, 1871. He was then appointed commander of the 17th Infantry Troop Division in Großwardein . His Majesty awarded him the Commander's Cross of the Leopold Order for this. From November 8, 1872 to August 2, 1881 he was the commanding general in the Banat.

On August 20, 1879, he received the dignity of a Real Secret Council , and on August 2, 1881, he was appointed commanding general in Agram . Here he contracted an illness during the rescue work in the infused Tisza and Körös area . In 1881, when he saved the lives of his fellow human beings during the floods, he contracted the beginning of an illness that he succumbed to on September 1, 1881 in Mödling near Vienna.
