Open water world championships

The open water world championships were held by the international swimming federation FINA every two years from 2000 to 2010 in open water swimming .

Open water swimming competitions have been held as part of the World Swimming Championships since 1991. In 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008 and 2010, these competitions were given an additional, independent framework with the open water world championships.

There are individual competitions for women and men over distances of 5, 10 and 25 kilometers.

The official name of the Open Water World Championships is FINA World Open Water Swimming Championships .
