Gaël Kakuta (born June 21, 1991 in Lille ) is a French - Congolese football player . He is under contract with Rayo Vallecano .

Career

Kakuta started playing football in Lille. In 1999 he moved to the youth department of the RC Lens . In 2004 he was selected to receive special training from the Center de Préformation de Football in Liévin . For two years he took part almost every day, on the weekends he continued to appear for Lens.

In 2007 Kakuta moved to the junior division of the English top club Chelsea . He enthused the fans and his teammates in his first training sessions and games and was honored with the Academy Scholar of the Year Award after his first season . After twelve goals in 24 appearances for the youth team, he was also voted Academy Player of the Year . During the season he also took part in the Champions Youth Cup for Chelsea . In the 2008/09 season he regularly took part in the training of the first team. In January 2009 he suffered a double broken ankle in a friendly match and was out for six months. After his recovery, FIFA announced on September 3, 2009 that Kakuta would be suspended for four months for a breach of contract when he joined Chelsea in 2007 and was fined € 780,000. Chelsea FC were banned from all transfer activities until January 2011. In February 2010, however, both sentences were lifted.

In the 2009/10 season Kakuta made his debut on November 21, 2009 in the Premier League when he came on in the game against Wolverhampton Wanderers for Nicolas Anelka . On December 8, 2009 he completed his first appearance in the Champions League against APOEL Nicosia . In his third league appearance on October 16, 2010 against Aston Villa , he was in the starting lineup for the first time.

Since he only made four league appearances in the first half of the 2010/11 season , Kakuta, coveted by many European top clubs, was dissatisfied with his situation and considered a move. In December 2010, however, he extended his end-of-season contract with Chelsea until 2015.

On January 26, 2011 it was announced that Kakuta will move to Fulham on loan until the end of the 2010/11 season. He made his debut for the Whites on February 2, 2011 against Newcastle United . He scored his first goal in the Premier League in the 3-0 win against Sunderland AFC on April 30, 2011.

On August 31, 2011, Chelsea FC announced that Kakuta would be loaned to Bolton Wanderers until December 31, 2011 . The second half of the season he was loaned to FCO Dijon . He played his first game in Ligue 1 on January 28, 2012 against Olympique Lyon . On August 31, 2012, Kakuta was loaned to Vitesse Arnhem for one year . The loan was later extended for the 2013-14 season. At the turn of the year 2013/14 the loan was terminated prematurely. End of January 2014 he was transferred to the Italian Serie A at Lazio loaned.

After a Serie A appearance, Kakuta was loaned to Rayo Vallecano in the Spanish Primera División for the 2014/15 season.

For the 2015/16 season, Kakuta moved to Sevilla FC . for which he only played two league games.

After a season in the Chinese Super League with Hebei China Fortune , he moved back to France for Ligue 1 promoted SC Amiens in June 2017 .

National team

For the French U-16 national team, he scored five goals in twelve missions. He made his debut on October 4, 2007 in the game against Switzerland in the U-17 national team. Another 13 missions followed, in which he was able to score three goals, including some appearances at the U-17 European Championship in 2008 , in which he and his team reached the final, which, however, was lost 4-0 to Spain. He only played five times for the U-18 national team, but was able to score three goals.

In 2010 he took part in the U-19 European Championship in France and won the title with a 2-1 win over Spain. With two goals in five games and good performances, he was awarded the Golden Player Award for best player after the tournament .

On October 7, 2010, Kakuta made his debut against Portugal in the U-20 national team. At the U-20 World Cup in Colombia in 2011 , he was in the French squad and was used in all seven games, but could not score. France failed in the semi-finals to Portugal and finally finished fourth.

He played his first game for the French U-21 team on October 7, 2011 in qualifying for the U-21 European Championship 2013 against Kazakhstan.
