history

Like many other outback tracks, Gary Junction Road was built in the 1960s by Len Beadell along with his Gunbarrel Road Construction Party . Many of his markings and signs on the roadside are still in their original form today. Len Beadell named the street after his son Gary .

Road conditions and gas stations

The road conditions are very different, some sections are solid and easy to drive on, others are characterized by loose sand or stony sections. Corrugations are also typical here . A four-wheel drive vehicle is required to ski on the slope . Usually two to three days are needed for the almost 900 km long route.

Petrol stations can be found in Papunya (NT), Mount Liebig (NT), Kintore (NT) and Kiwirrkura (WA).
