Gerhard Zahner

Gerhard “Gerd” Zahner (* 1957 in Singen ) is a German lawyer , author and theater critic. His novella Goster , nominated for the Friedrich Glauser Prize , was filmed by Hessischer Rundfunk under the same title and was nominated for the 54th Grimme Prize in 2018 .

Life

Gerhard Zahner grew up in the "working class town" of Singen and graduated from high school there. After studying law at the Albert Ludwig University in Freiburg im Breisgau , he completed his legal clerkship in Berlin. He has been working as a lawyer since 1989, particularly as a criminal defense attorney and in family law. He is married and lives in Sing.

'' Guilt is something for beginners '' is Zahner's continuation about the melancholy inspector Goster. With his sensitivity he senses the coincidences of life and in this way solves his cases. In his second case, Goster is confronted with the phenomenon that events immediately go viral as they happen on social media .

The novella '' Goster '' initially only served as a template for the Hessischer Rundfunk film of the same name. Due to the large number of highly acclaimed reviews and great demand, Zahner decided to publish it as a novel. Zahner draws strongly contoured characters that seem even more powerful than those of the cinematic implementation. In terms of content, Zahner addresses the automatism of weapons and the practice of break-in sex .

Nobody loses alone. A GOSTER thriller

The third novel about the investigator GOSTER will be published in August 2019. It deals with the return of the drug pervitin and its penetration into all layers of society. In addition, the thriller deals with the increasing housing shortage and critically examines the increasing profit orientation of the real estate industry.

On May 21 and June 13, 2017 he was available as an expert in the staging of the play Terror by Ferdinand von Schirach , directed by Mark Zurmühle at the Konstanz City Theater .

In October 2019, Zahner donated the premiere of his play The Fortune Teller and the Unwholesome for the benefit performance in the Remise of the Hohentwiel Domain in order to raise funds for the consequences of fire damage. With his culture of the theater he wanted to support the cultural heritage of sheep farming .

Documentary film

The documentary landscape stories by Marcus Welsch from 2009 portrays the landscape of Hegau and the Höri and some of their famous personalities . Gerd Zahner is one of the nine protagonists presented in the film .
