Flöthe is a municipality of the Oderwald municipality (seat in Börßum ) in the Wolfenbüttel district in Lower Saxony .

geography

Flöthe is located a few kilometers east-southeast of the independent city of Salzgitter on the western slope of the Oderwald between Schladen in the south and Wolfenbüttel in the north.

The two districts of the municipality are:

• Big flute
• Small flute

Groß Flöthe is bordered on the valley side by the Fuhse , which rises about two kilometers further east on the Oderwald. Klein Flöthe is traversed by a tributary of the Fuhse and is located directly on the A 36 motorway .

history

The community was first mentioned in 1170 as Flathi .

On March 1, 1974 the communities Groß Flöthe and Klein Flöthe were incorporated into the new community Flöthe.
