Gutturnio is an Italian wine-growing region in the province of Piacenza ( Emilia-Romagna region ), which has had a "controlled designation of origin " (Denominazione di origine controllata - DOC ) since 2010 , which was last updated on March 7, 2014.

Cultivation and vinification are permitted in the municipalities of Pianello Val Tidone , Borgonovo Val Tidone , Castel San Giovanni , Nibbiano, Agazzano , Piozzano , Gazzola , Vigolzone , Rivergaro , Ponte dell'Olio , Castell'Arquato , Carpaneto Piacentino , San Giorgio Piacentino , Gropparello , Alseno , Lugagnano Val d'Arda and Vernasca - all in the province of Piacenza .

Red blending wines (Cuvée) are produced under this name : They are marketed as Frizzante , "Superiore", "Classico Superiore", "Riserva" and "Classico Riserva". The grape varieties must contain at least 50–70% Barbera and 30–45% Croatina (which is also known locally as “Bonarda”).
