The Handbook prepared under the direction of the Historical Section of the Foreign Office ( German  manuals created under the direction of the Historical Department of the Foreign Office ) are a (by the Historical Department of English Historical Section ) of the British Foreign Office (English Foreign Office ) published in English Series of publications. In total, more than 160 studies appeared, most of which were published after the Paris Peace Conference in 1919 . The books provide information on country, regional and economic issues that are commissioned by the Federal Foreign Office forBritish negotiators at the 1919 Paris Peace Conference. They focus on providing a political history of the formation and expansion of the respective states / countries / areas, starting with the discovery and colonization .

Your editor, George Walter Prothero (1848–1922), worked as a historical advisor to the Foreign Office and in this capacity took part in the Paris Peace Conference.

The volumes were published by Her Majesty's Stationery Office in London . Most of them are now available online.
