Hans Joachim von Kleist (* 1685 ; † September 3, 1753 ) was a Prussian captain of the grenadiers and Pomeranian district administrator.

Life

origin

Hans Joachim von Kleist was a member of the behind Pomeranian noble family von Kleist and son of Jürgen von Kleist († 1718), Erbherrn on Kowalk , Schmenzin and Dimkuhlen , and Anna Ernestine von Zastrow from the house Wusterhanse († 1725).

Career

Kleist was baptized on January 28, 1685 on his father's estate Kowalk. He joined the Prussian Army and after 18 years of service with the rank of grenadier captain took his leave . Initially, he was hired as a commissioner from the Pomerania region , and since March 26, 1714 as a councilor there. In 1747 he was elected district administrator for the Belgard-Polzin district. Kleist was also canon of Cammin .

Although Kleist had inherited parts of the estate in Kowald and Schmenzin from his father, he only came to some prosperity and property worth mentioning with his marriage. His wife s. u. from her first marriage brought him the goods Wusterbarth , Collatz , Heyde , Lasbeck and Siedkow . From 1715 Kleist acquired shares in Groß Tychow where he finally took up residence.

Succession

After the district office of the Belgard-Polzin district became vacant, the district estates initially elected Heinrich Wilhelm von Podewils († 1758) as district administrator, which the king also confirmed on September 17, 1753. However, when it became known that there were irregularities in the election, the ballot had to be repeated. This time the district office came to Ernst Friedrich von Podewils (1718–1782), to whom the king confirmed the appointment on February 5, 1754.

Kleist married Maria Agnisa von Kleist (1691–1759), widow of Balthasar Heinrich Christoph von Wolden († 1710), daughter of Ewald Joachim von Kleist (1657–1716), district administrator of the Belgard district and Hedwig Magdalena von Blanckenburg around 1713 . The marriage resulted in five sons and three daughters:
