Harold & Kumar - Every year again (Original title: A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas ) is an American comedy film from 2011 . After Harold & Kumar and Harold & Kumar 2 - Escape from Guantanamo, it is the third installment in the Harold and Kumar film series. The German-language DVD and Blu-Ray was released on November 23, 2012.

For Christmas, Harold Lee tries to impress the father of his beloved wife Maria Perez-Lee so that he can finally welcome him into his family. Although he wants to give him an expensive Sharp television, he is absolutely surprised that not only his father-in-law Carlos Perez is visiting, but his entire family. He can't prevent Carlos Perez from being appalled to celebrate Christmas under a plastic tree. He has the tree replaced with his own tree that has grown under his care for eight years. Unfortunately, it is later set on fire by Kumar Patel. After more than two years of radio silence, Kumar had previously dared to give Harold a mysterious gift, which he found by chance at his door. Inside that box was a gigantic joint that destroyed the tree. Of course, Harold Kumar throws him out of his house.
To make up for his mistake, Kumar then buys a tree that has long been reserved for three times the price. Since the tree was previously reserved by Harold, he is then pursued by Harold in order to save his tree and his Christmas. During the chase, Kumar's car overturns and the tree is destroyed. Nobody is injured, but Harold and Kumar are now facing each other with their best friends Adrian and Todd, as well as Todd's little daughter. Since Adrian has no interest in the argument, he asks Harold to drive to his beautiful Mary so that he can deflower her . He shows him a cell phone video of her. Harold discovers an almost identical Christmas tree and agrees. You're going to a party. While Harold and Kumar are challenged in the beer pong around the Christmas tree, Adrian tries to sleep with Mary. However, when he discovers that she is the daughter of mafia godfather Sergei Katsov, he jumps off and Mary then tries to rape Harold. Her father storms the party with his two Ukrainian gangsters and discovers Mary on Harold's pants. Beside himself with anger, he orders his boys to kill everyone. Harold and Kumar flee from the party completely drunk. They are so high that they believe they are clay figures fleeing from a huge plasticine snowman monster.
They are found by Rosenberg and Goldstein, who invite them to dinner. They discover the perfect Christmas tree in the background, which they decide to steal. Disguised as actors, they smuggle themselves onto Neil Patrick Harris' stage show and then into his dressing room, where they witness that his homosexuality is only acted out to get better at women. But as he, after he rose from the dead, mind reading can, he gives Harold a perfect Christmas trees from his stage and Kumar the Wafflebot. Instead of being able to drive home in peace, they and Kumars Wafflebot are kidnapped by Katsov's Ukrainian gangsters and wake up again in a warehouse. Since the Wafflebot has now fallen in love with Kumar, the latter risks his life in order to eliminate the gangsters and free them. Since they don't know where they are afterwards, Harold shoots his shotgun once in the air to get attention. He meets Santa Claus , who was just flying past in his sleigh, on the head. In an emergency operation, Kumar is able to save his life.
Santa Claus will bring them home. An angry Carlos is waiting in the house to ask his son-in-law where his beloved tree has gone. Harold is so upset after hearing about ruining Christmas that he struggles and demands that Carlos give him more respect in his own house. Carlos is impressed by this and gives him his blessing to take good care of Maria. The next morning, Harold and Kumar and the whole family celebrate their Christmas party.
criticism
In the Chicago Sun-Times , the renowned film critic Roger Ebert said that the film deals a lot with the differences between ethnicities, although he “did not feel offended because of possible racism.” He also said “that there is not much to laugh about , “Because while the jokes in the first part were funny because they had a deeper meaning, here they are only flat and superficial. He "suspected that Cho and Penn had outgrown their characters" and was contractually bound to the film series as long as they still make money.
Neil Genzlinger of the New York Times said that if you feel offended by this movie, you are “an idiot for going into a Harold and Kumar movie.” Though the two main cast were “a baby's show.” is stolen, ”he also said that fans of the film series“ blissfully ”are left behind.
In Variety magazine was Justin Chang disappointed because although the film still "racially and politically charged humor," he was less subversive than its two predecessors.
