Comborn house

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Comborn family is a family belonging to the nobility in the south of France. It probably comes from the Counts of Toulouse , that is, the House of Toulouse .

Hugues, the first Viscount de Comborn, was a son of the Count of Rouergue. Archambaud I. Camba-Putrida , presumably a son of Hugues', married the heiress of the vice-county of Turenne , which then passed to his son Ebles I. The property was divided into the next generation. The older line of Turenne died out at the beginning of the 14th century, and the vice-county fell to the House of Comminges by will .

The younger line Comborn divided again at the end of the 11th century, the older line received the viceroy of Ventadour , the younger line Comborn. Viscount Bernard de Ventadour was made count in 1263, his descendants died out in 1492, and the title and property went to the Lévis family.

The younger Comborn line finally inherited the vice-county of Limoges , which resulted in a new division. The older Limoges line died out in 1291, the new younger Comborn line in the main line at the beginning of the 16th century after the vice-county was sold in 1508. Parts of the property, names and coats of arms were inherited in the female line. With a branch line of the family, the Comborn house died out completely at the end of the 17th century.
