Pagan Festival
The Heidenfest was a music festival organized by Rock the Nation , at which primarily Pagan , Viking and Folk Metal artists were represented. The Heidenfest was held for the first time on October 31, 2008 and, alongside the Paganfest , was one of the most important tours of the scene until 2015.

The tour led through around 20 cities (17 in 2008; 24 in 2010 and 23 in 2011) with a focus on Germany , Austria and Switzerland . In addition, there are also individual concerts in France , England, the Benelux countries and Eastern Europe . The events are usually designed for around 1000 to 2000 visitors. In selected cities there are so-called "extended shows" where the line-up is expanded to include a few bands . In contrast to the Paganfest there has not yet been a tour through North America .

After the great success of the Paganfest in 2007, the Rock the Nation company decided to organize the Heidenfest for 2008. The tour headliners were Finntroll , Primordial , Eluveitie and Equilibrium . In addition, the bands Catamenia and Månegarm played as supporting acts, which opened the first concert of the Heidenfest in Leipzig on October 31, 2008 . The tour continued via Austria and Switzerland to the Czech Republic . She then took the bands to France, Belgium and the Netherlands , where they played the first of their two extended shows with the band Thyrfing . The tour finally ended November 16, 2008 in Hungarian Budapest .
The Heidenfest did not take place in 2009. Instead, the Pagan Festival took place in North America and then in Europe .
In 2010 the Heidenfest took place for the second time, this time with Twilight of the Gods alone as the headliner. Furthermore, took Ensiferum , Equilibrium, Swashbuckle and Heidevolk part. Eisregen and Varg were planned for the extended shows . The first concert of the tour took place in Munich on September 10, 2010 , followed by two more concerts in Germany. Afterwards, the bands played a concert each in Denmark , Slovakia and Slovenia for the first time . In addition, four other extended shows took place, where Heathen Foray surprisingly replaced the band Heidevolk at one of these shows in Vienna . The Heidenfest 2010 finally ended on October 3, 2010 in Antwerp .
In April 2011 it was announced that the third Heidenfest tour will take place in September and October of this year. As in 2008 , the headliners were Finntroll , with Turisas , Alestorm , Arkona , Trollfest and Skálmöld also performing . Wintersun , Dornenreich and Todtgelichter were booked for the obligatory extended shows .
In 2012 the tour will take place from October 19th to November 4th. Wintersun , who want to release their second studio album in late summer 2012, have been hired as headliners. Other bands will be Korpiklaani , Varg , Trollfest and Krampus.
In addition to the Paganfest, the Heidenfest was one of the largest tours of the Pagan, Viking and Folk Metal scene. The concerts were played in rented clubs and halls in European cities. Depending on the size of these venues, there can be around 1000 to 2000 fans. A ticket for a concert costs between 25 and 35 euros , depending on the type of show and venue . In 2008, 10 of the 17 concerts were sold out.
