Heinrich Konstantin Anton von Poyda (born May 3, 1764 in Remptendorf ; † February 24, 1834 in Schöneiche ( Sorau district )) was a Prussian major general and most recently commander of the 11th Landwehr Brigade.

Life

origin

His parents were Kark Balthasar von Poyda (* March 28, 1724 - January 11, 1791) and his second wife Karoline Friederike Antonie, born von dem Borne (* December 4, 1721 - June 25, 1786). His father came from Rendsburg , was a lieutenant in the Prussian free battalion "Salemon" and had after the Seven Years' War his farewell taken. His brother Karl Wilhelm († 1793) died as a Prussian captain and company commander in the “von Wengern” infantry regiment .

Military career

Poyda visited the cadet house in Berlin from January 30, 1775 and was employed on June 1, 1779 as a private corporal in the infantry regiment "Teuffel von Birkensee" of the Prussian army . There he became an ensign on November 4, 1784 and second lieutenant on April 15, 1788 . During the First Coalition War he fought in the cannonade near Valmy , the sieges of Mainz and Landau as well as the battle of Kaiserslautern and the battle near Frankenthal . For Frankenthal Poyda received the order Pour le Mérite on January 9, 1794 and was promoted to Prime Lieutenant on March 20, 1794 . On February 1, 1795, he was transferred to the "von Graevenitz" infantry regiment as staff captain , and on October 9, 1798, he was promoted to captain and company commander .

In the run-up to the Fourth Coalition War , he came to Dresden on October 29, 1805 as a brigade major in the Hohenlohe corps . During the war he was able to distinguish himself in the defense of the Silberberg Fortress , but like many other officers, he was put on half pay on August 14, 1807 .

Poyda organized the return of Prussian prisoners of war to Silesia and was promoted to major in the army on October 24, 1808 with a patent from October 30, 1810 . He was supposed to come to the gendarmerie to improve his financial situation, but was only earmarked for employment on June 15, 1810. On August 5, 1811, he was appointed inspector of the inactive officers living in and around Sagan . On February 15, 1812 he was appointed 2nd commandant in Silberberg and interim commandant of Glatz Fortress . This earned him 1,300 thalers and two rations, and on August 11, 1813, with a patent from September 16, 1813, he was promoted to lieutenant colonel . On December 7, 1813 Poyda was then appointed commander of the 7th Silesian Landwehr Infantry Regiment. During the wars of liberation he took part in the siege of Erfurt .

After the war he was promoted to colonel on June 15, 1815 with a patent from June 18, 1815 . On December 4, 1816 he was appointed Commandant of Glatz. From October 11, 1817, he was employed as an inspector of the Landwehr in the Minden district. On February 22, 1820, he was transferred to the 11th Landwehr Brigade as a commander, and on March 30, 1820, with a patent from April 8, 1820, he was promoted to major general. In addition, he received the Order of the Red Eagle III on September 14, 1824 . Class. On June 13, 1825 he took his leave with a pension and was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd class with oak leaves. On July 14, 1825, Poyda received the service cross .
