Glöckler helmet
Helmut "Helm" Glöckler (born January 13, 1909 in Frankfurt am Main , † December 18, 1993 ibid) was a German racing car driver .
Career
Helm Glöckler was the cousin of Walter Glöckler , who became known in the 1950s for the development and construction of Porsche racing cars, the Glöckler Porsches . Helm Glöckler also competed with Glöckler Porsches.
Glöckler began his career in 1948 in national monoposto and sports car races in West Germany . Among other things, he drove Formula 3 races with the Kurpfalz built by Helmut Polensky . In 1949 it dominated the class up to 1.5-liter displacement of the newly created German Sports Car Championship at will. With a Veritas RS , he won seven races and secured the championship. In 1953 he became a works driver at Porsche and from then on also competed in international sports car races. In 1955 he finished sixth in the Le Mans 24-hour race and, together with Wolfgang Seidel, eighth in the Mille Miglia .
In 1953 he was registered on a Cooper T23 at the German Grand Prix on the Nordschleife of the Nürburgring . An engine failure during training prevented the start of the race.
