Hemmendorf, farm

Hemmendorf was mentioned in 1378 as "Heymendorf". Until 1856, the place was the westernmost place of the contiguous area of the Electoral Saxon or Royal Saxon Office Borna . From 1856 the place belonged to the Borna court office and from 1875 to the Borna district administration .

In the Altenburger Land , which begins directly south of Hemmendorf, the Hemmendorf (1938–1952) and Phoenix-Hemmendorf (1939–1948) opencast mines were active in the first half of the 20th century . The Prößdorfer See was created in the remaining hole . The area in the north of Hemmendorf was devastated between 1974 and 1991 by the Groitzscher Dreieck opencast mine . The Groitzscher See was created in the remaining hole .

Hemmendorf was assigned to the Borna district in the Leipzig district in 1952. On January 1, 1957, it was incorporated into Berndorf , with which the place came to the Saxon district of Borna in 1990 and to the district of Leipziger Land in 1994 . When Berndorf was incorporated into Groitzsch on January 1, 1996, Hemmendorf became part of the town of Groitzsch.
