Hillsong United

The Hillsong Church (originally: Hills Christian Life Center ) is a Megachurch founded in Sydney ( Australia ) in 1983 , which until 2018 was a member of the Australian Christian Churches (formerly Assemblies of God ) belonging to the Pentecostal movement . According to its own information, it has over 21,000 members in Australia alone. It has had its current name since 1999. The name goes back to the Hills District in Sydney.

Hillsong Church became known internationally primarily through its music groups and its television programs. Hillsong television programs are seen in more than 160 countries. Well-known collaborators are the founders and pastors Brian Houston and his wife Bobbie, the international coordinator Christine Caine and musicians such as Darlene Zschech , David Reidy , Reuben Morgan , Joel Houston , Marty Sampson , Brooke Fraser , Miriam Webster, Mia Fieldes, Steve McPherson and Jonathon Douglass. Hillsong Music topped the Australian charts several times with various albums.

The Hillsong Church also established itself internationally through the annual Hillsong Conference , to which tens of thousands of people travel to Sydney, London, Kiev, Stockholm and Amsterdam every year, as well as through album sales and Christian events and worship services. According to its own information, the church is visited by more than 20,000 believers every week.

International agencies

In 1992 Hillsong Church London was founded. Other parishes sprang up in Leatherhead , Bermondsey , Guildford , Newcastle upon Tyne , Kent and Oxford .
Hillsong Kiev was founded in 1992 .
Hillsong Moscow was founded in 2007 .
Hillsong South Africa was founded in Cape Town in 2008 . Other churches sprang up in Johannesburg , Pretoria , Somerset West , Mitchell's Plain , Gugulethu , Centurion, and Stellenbosch .
In 2009 the Passion Church was renamed Hillsong Stockholm . Another parish came into being in Malmö .
Hillsong Berlin was founded in 2009.
Hillsong NYC was founded in New York in 2010 . Other churches sprang up in New Jersey , Phoenix , Los Angeles, and San Francisco .
Hillsong Amsterdam was founded in 2011 . Today there are two parishes in Amsterdam and one in Rotterdam .
Hillsong Paris was founded in 2011 . Other parishes sprang up in Lyon , Massy and Marseille .
In 2011 the Lakeside Church Constance became a Hillsong congregation. Other communities emerged in Düsseldorf and Munich .
Hillsong Copenhagen was founded in 2013 . Another church came into being in Aarhus .
Hillsong Barcelona was founded in 2013 . There is also a parish in Madrid .
Hillsong Buenos Aires was founded in 2015 . There is also a church in São Paulo .
The Hillsong Campus Zurich was founded in 2015 . There is also a parish in Geneva .
Hillsong Bali was founded in 2016 .
Hillsong Israel was founded in Tel Aviv in 2018 .

music

Hillsong released their first music albums in the late 1980s. Hillsong was best known for her first live album The power of Your Love (1992). At the end of the 1990s there were joint projects between the youth work of Hillsong and the Australian youth movement Youth Alive , until Hillsong United started their own CD series. Hillsong United is directed by Joel Houston , who travels with his band to conferences and tours in many countries. Since 2004 there has also been a production series for children with Hillsong Kids . Some Hillsong musicians have also released solo albums.

Hillsong's daughter congregations in London and Kiev published their own recordings. In 2004 Hillsong London released their first CD under the title Shout God's Fame , for which Natasha Bedingfield wrote and sang some songs. In 2006 the second CD entitled Jesus Is was recorded in collaboration with Matt Redman . In October 2008 the third CD was released together with a DVD under the title Hail to the King , which was produced by Peter Wilson.

Today Hillsong is one of the biggest names in worship music. With Hillsong Worship (formerly Hillsong Live ), Hillsong United and Hillsong Young & Free there are currently three internationally known and successful bands.
