This chart was first published by Billboard in February 2005. The popularity of download sales of the songs had already increased before that, which Billboard took as an opportunity to raise them.

- Miley Cyrus is the youngest performer to ever debut at # 1. Her song Party in the USA debuted at number 1 with 226,000 downloads in one week, but the song did not reach the top of the Billboard Hot 100 .
- Katy Perry is the first artist to sell four singles in a week, always selling over 300,000 downloads. She did this with Hot N Cold , California Gurls , Firework, and ET
- The Black Eyed Peas song Boom Boom Pow holds the record for the most download sales by a group, with 465,000 downloads in a week.
- Michael Jackson is the only performer who sold over 1 million downloads in a week.
- Katy Perry holds the record for most digital number one hits from an album, with five from her Teenage Dream album: California Gurls , Teenage Dream , Firework , ET, and Last Friday Night (TGIF) .
