Illinois ( Ukrainian Іллінці ; Russian Ильинцы Iljinzy , Polish Ilińce ) is a city in Ukraine with about 11,193 inhabitants. It is the administrative center of the Illinois Rajons and is located in the northeastern part of the Vinnytsia Oblast on the Sob River , about 55 kilometers from the Oblast capital Vinnytsia .
In addition to the city, the town council also includes the villages of Boryssiwka (Борисівка) and Nemenka (Неменка).
history
The first written mention of the place comes from the year 1545, in 1925 it was raised to an urban-type settlement , on December 15, 1986, the Illinois was given city status (under district administration).
