Oratiw ( Ukrainian Оратів ; Russian Оратов Oratow , Polish Oratów ) is an urban-type settlement in Ukraine with about 2800 inhabitants (2019) and the administrative center of the raion of the same name .
Oratiw is located in the east of Vinnytsia Oblast on the Schywoij ( Живої ), a tributary of the Roska ( Роська ) on the territorial road T-02-35 and the regional road P-17 , 90 km east of the Oblast center Vinnytsia and about 190 km southwest of Kiev .
history
The town, first mentioned in writing in 1488, had the status of a town between 1811 and 1923. From July 27, 1941 to March 11, 1944, the village was occupied by the Wehrmacht . Oratiw has had urban-type settlement status since 1984.
Rajon
Oratiw is the administrative seat of Oratiw Raion . The Rajon has an area of 874 km² and about 22,000 inhabitants. The population density is 26 inhabitants per km².
