Wendytschany ( Ukrainian Вендичани ; Russian Вендичаны Wenditschany , Polish Wendyczany ) is an urban-type settlement in the Ukrainian Vinnytsia Oblast with about 3800 inhabitants (2014).
The village, first mentioned in the 16th century, is the administrative center of the 5.7 km² settlement council of the same name, which also includes the villages of Borschtschiwzi ( Борщівці ), Pidlisne ( Підлісне ) and Tarasivka ( Тарасівка ). Since 1985, Wendytschany has had urban-type settlement status.
Wendytschany located in the north of Rajon mohyliv-podilskyi on the banks of the river system of the Dniester belonging river Wendytschanka ( Вендичанка ) and on the highway M 21 and the territorial road T-02-20 . The Mohyliv-Podilskyj district center is located 23 km south and the Vinnytsia oblast center about 100 km northeast of Wendychany.
Personalities
In April 1902 in Wendytschany the Soviet and Polish military leaders, general of the armed forces of the Soviet Army and the Polish People's Army Stanisław Popławski was born.
