Tomashpil ( Ukrainian Томашпіль ; Russian Томашполь Tomaschpol ) is an urban-type in the Ukraine with about 5500 inhabitants (2014) and the administrative center of the same Rayon .
history
The village, founded in 1616, was given urban-type settlement status in 1923.
geography
Tomaschpil is located in the south of the Vinnytsia Oblast on the bank of the Tomaschpilka ( Томашпілька ), a 38 km long river that flows over the Russava ( Русава ) to the Dniester . The village is located 95 km south of the Vinnytsia Oblast Center and 20 km west of the nearest train station in Vapnyarka . The regional road P – 08 runs through the village .
In addition to Tomaschpil, the settlement council also includes the settlement of Horyschkiwske ( Горишківське ) with about 80 inhabitants.
Rajon
Tomaschpil is the administrative seat of Tomaschpil Rajon, founded in 1923, in the south of Vinnytsia Oblast. The Rajon has an area of 778 km² and about 34,000 inhabitants. The population density is 45 inhabitants per km².
