Chechelnyk ( Ukrainian Чечельник ; Russian Tschetschelnik , polish Czeczelnik ) is an urban-type in the oblast Winnyzja . It is located on the Sawran River , a tributary of the Southern Bug in the eastern part of the historic Podolia region .

The village was founded in the early 16th century as a refuge for landowners and Tatars , from 1795 to 1812 it was called Olgopoly, and since 1961 it has had the status of an urban-type settlement.

From 1901 to 2003 the place had a connection to the Hajworon narrow-gauge network .
