The Intertek Group plc , based in London, is a publicly listed international inspection, testing and certification company. Intertek has a network of more than 1,000 offices in over 100 countries with more than 44,000 employees.

The company supports its customers in compliance with quality, safety and performance standards through testing, inspection, certification, auditing, outsourcing, advice and quality assurance. Intertek looks after customers from a wide variety of industries, for example agricultural products & food, automotive, raw materials, construction products or IT & telecommunications.

The first origin goes back to a monitoring company founded by Caleb Brett for the maritime trade; In 1896 Thomas Edison founded the later renamed Electrical Testing Laboratories (ETL). The ETL mark named from it is now a test mark for the North American market.
