Career

Irina Litvinenko began her international career by winning a bronze medal at the 2006 Junior Asian Championships in Macau . That year she also took part in the Junior World Championships in Beijing , but did not qualify for the final there. In 2007 she won the bronze medal with 13.80 m at the Asian Championships in Amman . At the Summer Universiade in Bangkok she reached 13th place. At the end of the season she won the gold medal at the Asian Indoor Games in Macau. In 2008 she took part in the Olympic Games in Beijing for the first time , but did not reach the final there with 12.92 m in qualification .

In 2009 she missed a medal at the Student World Games in Belgrade as fourth, but won bronze at the Asian Championships in Guangzhou with 13.99 m. At the Asian Indoor Games in Hanoi , she won the silver medal behind her compatriot Olga Rypakowa . Two years later she was sixth at the Asian Championships in Kobe . At the Summer Universiade in Shenzhen and the World Championships in Daegu , she was eliminated from the qualification. In 2012 she took part in the World Indoor Championships in Istanbul and the Olympic Games in London , but did not reach the final there either.

In 2013 she was fourth again at the Student World Games in Kazan and won the bronze medal at the Asian Championships in Pune . She also qualified for her third participation in the World Cup , in which she did not reach the final again. In 2014 she was sixth at the Asian Indoor Championships in Hangzhou and won the bronze medal at the Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea . In 2015 she finished fifth at the Asian Championships in Wuhan and sixth at the Universiade in Gwangju . At the World Championships in Beijing, she was eliminated with 13.61 m in qualification . In 2016 she won the bronze medal at the Asian Indoor Championships in Doha and qualified for the third time for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where she was eliminated for the third time in the qualification .

In 2017, she won the silver medal behind her young compatriot Marija Ovtschinnikowa at the Asian Championships in Bhubaneswar . At the beginning of September at the Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games in Ashgabat, she failed to make a valid attempt in the long jump final. In 2018 she took part in the Asian Indoor Championships in Tehran , where she won the gold medal in the triple jump with 13.79 minutes and took fourth place in the long jump in the long jump with 5.05 m. At the end of August she was sixth at the Asian Games in Jakarta with 13.58 m. The following year she finished fourth at the Asian Championships in Doha with 13.40 m.

In 2009, 2012 and 2013 as well as in 2016 and 2018, Ektowa was Kazakh champion in the outdoor triple jump and in 2013 also in the long jump. In the hall she secured the championship titles in 2006 and 2007 as well as 2018 and 2019 in the triple jump and in 2019 also in the long jump.

Irina Litwinenko has been married to the Kazakh triple jumper Yevgeny Ektow since around 2010 and has a daughter with him (* 2010). She graduated from the Kazakh Academy of Sports and Tourism in Almaty .
