Meetings by scientists

The first year was discussed by the political scientist Andreas Sobisch (1992): The series promises to be an enrichment for anyone interested in this field of research.

The historian Jürgen Angelow (1999) commented on the 10th year with: "In summary, the present yearbook will be able to attest to a broad spectrum of interpretations, points of view and interpretation patterns."

Karsten Fischer , political scientist, attested the yearbook for its tenth anniversary (2001) "a self-critical liberal-democratic consciousness". It is characterized "by a strong continuity, both in terms of its structure, as well as in terms of its content and dominant perspectives", in summary it is "a valuable source whose scientific and political importance should increase in the next few years".

Lazaros Miliopoulos , political scientist, emphasized that the yearbook could show "a convincing systematics, wide range, refreshing diversity of positions and competent and renowned authorship".

The political scientist Manfred Funke (2003) found for the 14th year that the yearbook E & D is "highly recommended for reading" and "especially when you need arguments against the loss of dignity of the spiritual in the political."

Jürgen Plöhn , political scientist, remarked in 2010: "Like its predecessor, the 20th volume offers valuable knowledge and interpretations on a broad, but often neglected topic."

In the opinion of the political didactic specialist Armin Scherb (2010) “[the yearbook] should not be missing in any university reference for a seminar that deals with the political history of the Federal Republic of Germany. The yearbook functions as a reference work for teaching politics and history in schools or in extra-curricular education. "

In 2011, the political scientist Robert Chr. Van Ooyen said: The yearbook had "long since advanced to become a standard work that has set standards in German research on extremism."

The political scientist Harald Bergsdorf found for 2013: "a multi-faceted compendium of analyzes on various extremisms at home and abroad" that provides "a lot of factual and expert information, a lot of multi-perspective clarification and well-founded discussion material".

More voices

In 2011, the Left Party politician Bodo Ramelow distanced himself in an open letter from Jesse's collaboration on the yearbook. He argues that the printed work belittles neo- fascism, that its editors created an invalid political theory that they could not conclusively substantiate, and that while left-wing ideas are demonized by comparison with neo-fascism, it is played down. This downplaying is also operated by Jesse himself.

In the CDU-related newsletter Die Politische Augen, which is published by the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung , Michael Gregory , author of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung , noted in 2012 : The yearbook is a “standard work on German extremism research [with] many worth reading [n] Reviews and insightful [n] analyzes.
