Jaroslavas Narkevičius

Jaroslavas Narkevičius (Polish Jarosław Narkiewicz ; born January 1, 1962 in Trakai ) is a Lithuanian politician of Polish origin, Minister of Transport of Lithuania since August 2019 and Member of Parliament since 2008, former Vice-President of Parliament (2012-2016).

Life

After graduation in 1979 at the middle school Jaroslavas Narkevičius completed the diploma in mathematics at the State Pedagogical Institute in Vilnius and was a teacher . 1983–1984 he worked in Salkininkai , 1984–2001 in Šklėriai , where he was principal school director from 1987–2001.

2000–2008 Jaroslavas Narkevičius was a member of the council of the Trakai district . From 2002-2008 he worked in the administration of the district municipality of Vilnius . He has been a member of the Seimas since 2008 . From December 18, 2012 to November 2016, he was Deputy Chairman of the Seimas. In 2016 he was elected to parliament. In August 2019 he became a minister (instead of Rokas Masiulis ). In December 2019, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda asked to leave office as Narkevičius lost his trust. Prime Minister Skvernelis defended the minister and did not agree.

Jaroslavas Narkevičius is a member of Lietuvos lenkų rinkimų akcija .

Jaroslavas Narkevičius is married. He and his wife Irena have daughters Karolina and Katažyna.
