The East Timorese cabinet of 1975 was set up by the Central Committee of FRETILIN on November 30, 1975 after the party had unilaterally proclaimed the independence of Portuguese Timor and the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste two days earlier .

The head of the cabinet was Prime Minister Nicolau dos Reis Lobato under President Francisco Xavier do Amaral .

With the proclamation of independence , FRETILIN wanted to seek international support to stop the invasion by Indonesia , but on December 7th the Indonesian armed forces launched a large-scale attack on the capital Dili and other targets in the country. Part of the East Timorese government fled to the mountains and waged a guerrilla war against the occupiers. Others, such as Foreign Minister José Ramos-Horta , Marí Bin Amude Alkatiri , Abílio Araújo and Rogério Lobato , campaigned abroad for support from East Timor against the invaders.

With APODETI member Arnaldo dos Reis Araújo as president, the Provisional Government of East Timor (PGET, Indonesian: Pemerintah Sementara Timor Timur, PSTT) was set up as a puppet government of Indonesia on December 17, 1975 . On May 31, 1976, Indonesia officially annexed East Timor as its 27th Timor Province .

It was not until 1999 that an independence referendum was held in East Timor under international pressure . After a recent wave of violence that took the United Nations , the administration of East Timor . A new East Timorese cabinet was set up under her . East Timor was given independence again on May 20, 2002.
