Keaton Leonard Grant (born December 8, 1986 in Kissimmee , Florida ) is an American basketball player . After studying in his home country, Grant turned pro in the NBA Development League before continuing his career in Europe in 2011. After stints in Slovakia , Greece and Italy , Grant played in the 2015/16 basketball Bundesliga for German first division club Löwen Braunschweig, after having played a season in the top German division for MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg in the 2013/14 season.

Career

Grant went to Indiana to study at Purdue University , where he was active for four years in basketball for the college team Boilermakers in the Big Ten Conference of the NCAA from 2006 together with the later Bundesliga player Chris Kramer . In 2009 they won the Big Ten championship tournament and were qualified in all four seasons for the national NCAA finals , in which, however, they never got beyond the round of 16 Sweet Sixteen . While Grant's younger teammates E'Twaun Moore , Robbie Hummel and JaJuan Johnson were all selected in later NBA drafts by clubs in the most prestigious professional leagues , Kramer and Grant were not considered in the 2010 NBA draft and initially played in the 2010/11 season the NBA Development League (D-League). While Kramer with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants narrowly missed the championship play-offs of this league, Grant had the worst record of all teams in the D-League with the Skyforce from Sioux Falls .

After Grant could not recommend himself for the NBA through the D-League , he continued his professional career in Europe in 2011, like Kramer and played for the Slovakian champions BK Astrum from Levice in the 2011/12 season . After changing sponsors, as ONYX Levice, after 14 wins in 32 games, they only came third from last in the nine-team top national league. In the first round of the championship play-offs they were eliminated as defending champions against eventual champions BK Prievidza . In the following season, Grant played in the A1 Ethniki in Greece for Apollon from Patras . After eleven wins in 26 games, the first division returner immediately reached eighth place and made it into the play-offs, in which there was no chance in the first round against the defending champion and reigning ULEB Euroleague champion Olympiacos Piraeus . For the 2013/14 season, Grant then got a contract with the German first division club MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg in the basketball Bundesliga , in which Chris Kramer has been playing for EWE Baskets Oldenburg since 2011 . The Ludwigsburg had the second last preseason only by a wildcard kept the class, but found under coach John Patrick to new strength and returned as a major round of eight in the play-offs for the German championship back. Here they were eliminated in the first round against the eventual title winner FC Bayern Munich . Then Grant played a season in the Italian Lega Basket Serie A with the promoted Aquila Basket from Trient , who achieved an excellent fourth place with season MVP Tony Mitchell , but in the play-offs in the first round against the eventual title winner Banco di Sardegna Sassari left.

For the Basketball Bundesliga 2015/16 Grant was brought back to the top German division by the Löwen from Braunschweig after Grant's compatriot Trent Lockett could not be signed on, who, conversely, finally found his way to Grant's previous team in Italy.
