Lanz is cooking! was a cooking show moderated by Markus Lanz on ZDF . It was broadcast on Friday evenings between around 11 p.m. and 12:30 a.m. instead of the Markus Lanz talk show. The broadcast was discontinued at the end of December 2012.
In the summer breaks of 2008 and 2009 Markus Lanz represented Johannes B. Kerner's cooking show Kerner kocht with his show . After Kerner left ZDF in October 2009, Lanz started cooking! instead broadcast regularly on the same slot.
The program was initially produced by the Hamburg TV production company Fernsehmacher , in which Johannes B. Kerner and Markus Heidemanns each held half. From January 2011 until it was discontinued, Spiegel TV Infotainment produced the cooking show in cooperation with the company Mhoch2 TV , in which Markus Lanz and Markus Heidemanns each have a 50% share.
The concept of the program was that five well-known cooks and initially also the winner of the kitchen fight each prepared a dish during the program. Markus Lanz and the chefs rated each other's dishes. In addition, some studio viewers and, after the kitchen slaughter winners no longer appeared as fellow cooks, they received the individual courses for tasting.
Some of the programs had a motto. "Surprise menu" programs took place at irregular intervals, in which the chefs were given the ingredients in the program, some of which were often represented for many unknown dishes.
After Markus Lanz moderated Wetten, dass ..? Had taken over, Lanz was cooking! discontinued on December 28, 2012. A 90-minute version of the program was shown.
