Last Resort is an American military and drama series produced in the United States by Sony Pictures Television in 2012 for the US television broadcaster ABC . The premiere took place on September 27, 2012 at ABC. On November 16, 2012, ABC announced that it would not produce another season.
action
The television series is about the crew of a fictional Ohio-class submarine , the "USS Colorado". When the boat armed with nuclear missiles crossed the equator and shortly before had picked up a group of Navy Seals, the captain was ordered to shoot down two Trident missiles on Pakistan. Since the order arrives on a channel that should only be used if the standard channels of the US armed forces are destroyed, Captain Marcus Chaplin doubts the authenticity of the order and requests confirmation on a standard channel. He is then relieved of his authority as captain of the submarine. When the first officer as the new captain also refuses to give orders, the "USS Colorado" is shot at and damaged by its own submarine. The crew take refuge in the submarine on a small, inhabited island in the Indian Ocean that serves as a NATO outpost, while another submarine fires two nuclear missiles at Pakistan.
Chaplin tries to find out from which government circles the order came. In order to remain unreserved until then, he threatens the nuclear annihilation of Washington if the island is attacked. He explains a 200-mile protection zone around the island, whereby the submarine is helped by the fact that it has a novel radar defense system that makes it invisible to enemy forces underwater when used. While the team is struggling with internal problems and several crew members are rebelling, attempts are being made in Washington - also through relatives - to get hold of crew members. Chaplin has increasing problems keeping the team under control. The Russians, Chinese and the CIA are also trying to influence what is happening, which leads to several additional conflicts and confrontations.
