Le Rœulx ( Walloon : El Rû) is a small Belgian town with 8,716 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019) in the province of Hainaut . It is 45 km south of Brussels at the junction of the Paris-Brussels motorway and the Walloon motorway, with good transport links to Mons , Brussels and Charleroi . The city has a partnership with Quinsac in France and Steinenbronn in Germany .

The Le Rœulx Castle since 1433 and now owned by the Prince of Croy .

Districts

In addition to the inner city of Le Rœulx, there are the districts of Gottignies, Mignault, Thieu and Ville-sur-Haine. Ville-sur-Haine and Thieu are on the banks of the Canal du Center .

economy

The traditional St-Feuillien brewery is located in Le Rœulx , and among other things, it sells various international award-winning beers.
